Concour d’art oratoire

Concour d’art oratoire2020-03-30T16:28:01-04:00

As COVID-19 continues to spread, our thoughts go out to anyone who has been infected or impacted. We hope that you and your families and loved ones are coping during this unprecedented and rapidly evolving time. At this time, Canadian Parents for French is postponing indefinitely the Concours d’art oratoire Provincial competition and National Final, scheduled for June 6, 2020.

CPF Branches and National are working collaboratively to consider alternative methods of delivering opportunities for youth to learn and use French, to reward the efforts of students having already begun the process of creating speeches and schools having already held preliminary competitions. We ask our educational partners to stay tuned for updates over the next few weeks.

We will be updating this page as more information is available. If you have any questions please contact Lucie Newson at [email protected]

In-lieu of the traditional Concours, with a number of partners we’re launching

Deadline to submit videos through our website is May 19th, 2020.

We invite students in Kindergarten through Grade 12 across Canada to record and virtually post 1-3 minute videos, en français, sharing how they are spending their time while schools are closed and events are cancelled.

While this is an incredibly serious public health moment, as we’ve seen from towns in Italy and Spain, there is power in sharing the experience together – to help raise each others’ spirits and remind each other that we’re in this together.

Ensemble à distance.

Cash prizes total over $10,000 for students in Grades 6 – 12 who place in the top three in each category!

All cash prizes will be matched with a financial donation to a registered charity of the student’s choice.

For each submission made for students in Kindergarten through Grade 5 we will make a $10 contribution to Food Banks Canada.

In addition, each submission will be entered into a random draw for two (2) roundtrip tickets anywhere in Canada with AirCanada!  Students under 18 must be accompanied with a parent or guardian.
