Bursaries and Exchanges – Canada Wide

Destination Clic is a summer bursary program for francophone students in Grades 8 and 9 who attend a French-as-a-first language school and live outside of Quebec. This program will allow you to improve your French-language skills by doing activities that are tailored to the things you love to do and by meeting other francophones your age from across the country. Participants in Destination Clic are awarded a $2,000 bursary (taxable income) that covers tuition fees, instructional materials, meals, and accommodation. For three weeks, you will dive deep into another part of la francophonie au Canada through classes, workshops, games, visits to fun local attractions, all while meeting new people and making new friends with French speakers from across the country.

The Exchanges Canada program helps youth to enhance their knowledge and understanding of Canada while connecting with other young Canadians.

Participants can go almost anywhere in Canada. They can discover a rural area or a city center, a French- or English-speaking community, a province on the other side of the country or an equally exciting place closer to home. Participants develop a sense of Canadian identity and attachment to Canada and its rich diversity. The program aims to involve youth participants from all walks of life, including Indigenous people, visible minorities and persons with disabilities.  The Exchanges Canada program has two components for youth:  Youth Exchanges Canada  and Youth Forums Canada.

Explore: Five-Week French-Language Bursary Program — Most expenses are covered! Are you looking for a spring or summer program to learn French? Do you want to discover another region of Canada and meet new people? Go Explore! Explore is a five-week intensive language-immersion program. You can take the program in the spring or summer, whichever you prefer. Participants in Explore receive a $2,200 bursary (taxable income) that covers tuition fees for the programs, instructional materials, meals and accommodations, workshops, and other mandatory activities. Discover another region of Canada while learning French. Enjoy five weeks of learning and adventure, friendship and discovery!

The Fédération de la jeunesse canadienne-française (FJCF)  brings the interests of French-speaking youth to Canada and contributes to reaching its full potential. Le Forum jeunesse pancanadien (FJP), Jeunesse Canada au travail (JCT),  Parlement jeunesse pancanadien are a few of their programs.

French for the Future (Le français pour l’avenir )hosts the National Ambassador Youth Forum brings together bilingual high school students from across Canada for a week of intense learning with the ultimate goal of creating ambassadors for bilingualism. They discuss the challenges and advantages of speaking both of Canada’s official languages. Other programs include Local Forums, a national essay contest which is open to students in grades 10 to 12 across Canada, and other programs.

Odyssey is an opportunity to dive into another language and culture while discovering your own; travel and explore Canada; Come and get a bilingual, professional experience while being paid. Under the supervision of a teacher, you will use games and other activities on a daily basis to motivate students to learn more about French as a second language. You will be able to share your culture from your experience. You will also showcase the linguistic peculiarities of your region through the arts, music, stories, local expressions, and humor and will make a difference in the lives of young people. In the end, you will have allowed students to deepen their knowledge of Canada and cultivate a passion for language learning while having fun!
