Halifax, July 1, 2023 – Canadian Parents for French, Prince Edward Island would like to thank the Department of Canadian Heritage for its ongoing financial support, which helps our organization maintain essential programs and activities. A contribution of $134,640 will be granted to our organization to help it continue its activities under the Enhancement of Official Languages Program, Promotion of Linguistic Duality component. This funding is allocated for the 2023-2024 government fiscal year.

It is largely thanks to this financial assistance that Canadian Parents for French, Prince Edward Island, has been able to provide leadership and member support and to sustain the provincial branch for over forty years. In addition, much of the work of Canadian Parents for French, Prince Edward Island has also involved informing and influencing educational decision-makers and raising public awareness of the importance of French-second-language education in Canada.

This core program contribution supports and strengthens the collective efforts of Canadian Parents for French, Prince Edward Island volunteers to fulfill our mandate of promoting and creating opportunities for students to learn and use French. By working together, Canadian Parents for French, Prince Edward Island can increase its impact across the country and assist the Department of Canadian Heritage in promoting a bilingual Canada, helping to share our rich and diverse linguistic and cultural histories and continuing to build a strong and inclusive Canada, and working towards the goal of increasing the bilingualism rate of the Canadian population to 20% by 2036. We look forward to continuing our important work together in the years ahead.
